well, looky what i found!

'metric' was the first serious longform solo piece that i considered good enough to publish properly. i provided it to darrell burgan at earth mantra netlabel for release on 256 kbps mp3 under a creative commons license.

as i began looking through my old catalog and figuring out what to consolidate in my bandcamp archive, i discovered 'metric' and listened through it with a combination of fascination, amusement, and horror. i certainly wasn't afraid to take chances back in the day, and i hear the signature sounds of the many synthesizers i was using at the time.

this track is raw, messy, chaotic, and has a dynamic range that will rip your head off... but there's something very real in it.

the original mp3 is still available on archive.org, but this release has been cleaned up using modern tools and has a much nicer overall sound. it's still name-your-price, and i am certainly not interested in justifying the choices i made over a decade ago... but it's an enjoyable glimpse into where i was at that time.

feel free to open the extra artwork if you'd like to burn your own cdr; you can also read the hilariously pretentious liner notes for yourself and raise a glass to a fearless/stupid electronic musician who honestly thought he'd finally learned it all...
